Do You Always Have To A Person Take Care Of You? Can You Manage On Your Own With Epilepsy/PNES?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can you live by yourself & have a response dog? What other options are there?? I need answers not hugs.
Hugs are nice but answers are what I am looking for.

Mine are mostly PNES.
I can feel my heart rate elevating. I try to to tell myself im going to be okay. To just relax. Calm down. Breathe. When I have people around, its hard for me to do this. I feel like I'm ostracized.

Yes, I can live alone with a service dog. Other options are depending on how your mind tells you are. I believe if questionable give it a try. I myself do have a service dog and do live alone. Things I enjoy to is helping others along with myself figure out what way will work the best and attempt to give it a try. Sometimes it will not be since nothing is perfect. I say this I know you can have a frown and not let that pull my life upside down🙂-☹️=🤩!

Probably different for each person . I miss having my friend that would drive me places. Much easier to live with a caring person. But I've been on this solo for some years and managing very well.

If your dog can since something is about or could happen. You know it's time to call 911 and get somewhere you can't hurt yourself. Better safe than sorry.

Perhaps if you get a dog, and notify your neighbor that if your dog starts acting a certain way, to check up on you, then train your dog to get your neighbor's attention when you have seizures.
