Hi my name is Michelle and I suffer from grand mol seizures it is normal to not remember how it happened or just simple things
Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Yes, it’s normal for some of us to not remember how it happened or other things. After your seizure it might take some time to come out of it & feel more like yourself & then you might start remembering things again like your name or other simple things. But we might not always have any memory of what happened but there are others who are aware during their seizures & so they likely would be able to remember what happened. I don’t normally know I’ve had a seizure unless I notice something is odd or someone witnesses it like my Mom or stepdad who I still live at home with. One night I got up late to get something to drink & remember being at the refrigerator & next thing I knew I was in front of the sink kneeling down holding the kitchen TV remote in 3 parts like I had dropped it & was trying to put it back together & I had no memory of any of it. A couple years ago I had a seizure while sleeping with a loss of bladder & apparently walked to the bathroom during that seizure & removed my feminine pad & put it in the trash & I had no memory of any of it. I was really tired after that seizure. So yes, it’s normal. It can vary from person to person but it’s normal. You can talk to your doctor about it if you have any concerns or questions. there is many ways to get a seizure... partial (focal onset) and generilized seizures. partials means 1/2 of your brain is haveing a seizure. generilised mean both side of the brain are haveing a seizure. partials means you are aware. generilized mean you are un aware. grand mals (tonic-clonic) seizures are generilzed and therefore un aware.
i should know... i have both partails and grand mals.
