I developed a significant Learning Disability, possibly due to where the seizures came from. I could not do any math, and at 12 pay attention for over 15 minutes. A Tutor at home helped. When required to take math of any kind I was so stressed could not do any normal classes. Eventually my Neurologist had me take a full Neuropsych Workup. They determined I did not remember a task if given directions, and did not continue doing a task if I knew it. If that was the case, the chance of my getting… read more
I used to be in the smart class at school. When I could not do any regular classes because they did math, they put me in the dumb class from 6th to 12th grade. I got a Liberal Arts AA Degree, and eventually a Bachelors from UConn. They did not require me to do math. My "Guidance Counselor" said I would not graduate High School, never go to College, and never ever get a job. I did all those things.
Medicare and Medicaid are ones that I always get confused too, Bryan. However, because the governments were created by and are run by humans (all, of us, are and therefore everything created by are imperfect), there are some people who do not have SSI, SSDI, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. We had some friends on here before the pandemic who were in this group (some of which were only getting on to this site via a computer in a public library), but they have either died from the pandemic (whether from Covid-19 or something else that resulted from the pandemic. Just like there is at least one (usually thousands, millions, billions, etc.) to every stereotype and to every "usual" effect of every incurable and/or side effect(s) to medications or conditions or X (representing other factors that we do not know of, or at least we might not know about yet but others do), there is only one constant for all life and that is death -- unless GOD makes that no longer true (or already has but we are just not able to perceive the exceptions. It is like when I made the mistake of making the statement that 1 common trigger of all seizures is stress, but then I believe it was you that told me that stress is not a trigger for you. Likewise, since I first came on to this site, I have found that anything that I believed to be uniquely happening to me because of Epilepsy turned out to be something that other friends on here also have happen to them to. And I am pretty positive (my brain reboot is not complete yet, thus I can't say completely positive, that every question that I have ever asked since coming on this site has been answered by at least one friend. And, as I got a better understanding of this site, I found via the search function in Q + A, that just about every question that I have asked has been asked by someone else. My dad is moving about, so now I have to leave the site to care for him. Talk to you sometime later!
I have not used them lately, but there is a Taxi Company in Stamford. Fortunately I had cash to pay him. If I need him, his phone number is in my phone.
I surely understand. I received my degree in accounting although I was never able to hold a job due to my seizures
There are various issues that apply to things like this. You could possibly be able to get additional income from SSI for the time you can’t work. But it’s not easy to get SSDI. I just received an email explaining what is needed for supplemental income from SSI. The title was Getting disability coverage with epilepsy
