My wife isn't an epileptic by I am. She is on Estroven for menopause due to having cancer and taking meds for it, and she used over the counter Estroven. And she is doing well !
My seizures started at puberty and were not controlled till about 10 years ago. Well now I am going through menopause and they are back (my hormones are all out of wack; I have almost no estrogen left).
My GP, who is a hormone replacement specialist, wants me to do the pellets (because of other menopausal symptoms), but I am worried it will make my seizures worse.
Yes, I had most of my seizures between 12-16 yrs and also during 40-49 years of age. Ever since menopause, I have not had any more seizures. Also, the seizures that I had in my 40's were more frequent and more intense, some were very damaging to my memory and speech. I haven't had a seizure in over 7 years but I can still struggle to find words & sometimes my memory is a bit wonky.
I recently had a doctor give me a hysterectomy referral because of it.
I think it's having a positive impact on my seizure threshold.
I still have seizures but seizures that use to take me down in seconds are now giving me longer warnings than before.
