What Type Of Seizure
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I can tell it is coming on, I just cant talk and don't understand a word said. It peaks in about 5 minutes and I slowly get the ability to talk. What type of seizure do I have? I've had Gran mals; last one January 2009. I got epilepsy from .motorcycle wreck, coma for 9 days, I think a blood clot removed removed from my brain.

It’s not so much, of what type of seizures you’re having. It’s where the seizures are active in your brain . It they are hitting your Voice, Language and possibly memory part of your brain, then it’s going to cause you trouble to talk.

Other people their seizures might hit the emotional or behavioral part of the brain , to where it will change the person’s behavior, feelings or personality for a little bit. There are many other things seizures can do to us , depending on their locations in the brain.

You would need to see a Neurologist of Epileptologist. The seizures I have can be minor, or quite large. They are now called Partial Awareness, but were Absence Seizures. A small one could mean my staring and not talking for a short while. After coming to, I speak as if nothing happened.
