Post-ictal Support When You Are Alone? Maybe An App?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a breakthrough seizure Saturday night. When I woke up, prior to regaining my sense of self, I apparently Googled “help” over and over. I know I needed help. But I didn’t know how to get it.

Im looking for things that would help in that situation. When you need help and you’re scared because no one is around.

I’m thinking maybe an app? Something familiar that could be utilized in those first scary moments.

Cool idea. That would be awesome if they could create a personalized widget that could Inform your loved ones and attempt to calm you down. My episodes usually create a panic attack which makes the seizures worse. I could imagine you hitting a button on your phone and it going to something to help distract you or calm you down while texting or calling your loved ones for you.

That’s the same problem I have. I’m thinking an app on your Lock Screen that plays music you choose to calm you down, or a loved one’s voice telling you it’s ok. Maybe it calls a seizure hotline so you can talk to a real person. I’m talking to app developers now. You guys think it would be a good idea?

If you have close Families and friends who live close to you , put them on an emergency contact list along with 911 or or what ever the Emergency number in other countries is.

There are lots of different products out there now it just depends on what you're trying to do. Just Google seizure support products and there should be a few websites based around these.
