Can Untreated Focal Aware & Focal Unaware Seizures Lead To Migraines?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

It all started about 2 years ago. It was originally caused by a sugar rush I would drink about 8 cans of soft drinks over the course of the week and get really dehydrated then about two years ago I started getting headaches about three a week. I had a sudden Tonic-clonic seizure late last year (I already had epilepsy) then after that happened I basically cut right back on all soft drinks I was having and increased my water intake. Jack migraines can lead to seizures yes bc last year I woke up and the left side of my body was paralyzed and the ambulance took me to the hospital…well I also had a migraine while at the hospital. The drs had an EEG on my head and it read that my migraine caused one of my seizures, so yes absolutely 💯

I get the headaches intermittent but the metallic taste and smells sometimes come before a full blown seizure but not always

Before my first surgery, I would have the worst headache of my life that occurred only on my left side after I had a seizure. Literally no over the counter drug would help.

Now, I’m having a headache on my left side before my seizure would occur. I’m hopefully getting tested by the end of the year to confirm whether or not some seizure activity is occurring with the headache.

Also as a side note, my epileptologist let me know that certain forms of drug resistant epilepsy, like mine, can make new neural connections to the brain which creates new kinds of symptoms. The newest one, that only happened once so far, is a metallic taste.
