Looking for advice on safeguards to put in place, any devices used, and so forth. Living in the dorm with a roommate…
I didn't go to law school out of state but I lived 6 hours away from family during my first year. Some basic things I did was make sure that I had my medical emergency contact on my phone in the event I had a tonic clonic episode.
When I was in a graduate dorm my first year I didn't have roommates. However, I did disclose my epilepsy with the University so that the onsite manager of the dorm would be aware.
However, I think the hardest thing mentally was deciding whether or not to disclose with professors and peers. I elected to disclose because in the chance I was having a tonic clonic, I didn't want people doing the wrong thing in trying to help.
However, I think the hardest thing in my opinion is being concerned about the peer pressure to do the off campus stuff, like partying and drinking. Doctor's don't really talk about it and my parents assumed I knew better because of my health.
He is playing football, the school knows, the trainer knows, he filed for accommodations so his professors know, we will inform the RA and RM. His doctor told him drinking is very dangerous due to the meds on. We’ve had multiple discussions about him drinking and that it could potentially kill him.
