Mental Health In Epileptics
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have Epilepsy as well as PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety, & now Bipolar 2. I thought I read somewhere a lot of Epileptics had some of these mental health issues. I have all 4. Is this common?

Sometimes I’m not sure if IT’s medication, epilepsy or work related stress, as my home life is good

I have PTSD, anxiety and I’m a chronic overthinker, lack sleep, which makes me emotionally drained

I have twin aunts that are retired nurses & say the meds can cause it. I'm on SSDI, so it can't be work. Home life is fine. So it has to be the Epilepsy or the meds😁

Lack of sleep too & from what I'm told an overthiner. It's nice to have people with problems in common. I don't feel so weird.
