I'm Wondering If I Could Have Lupus From My Medicine
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My dermatologist says that I have lupus and that it's not from the medicine I'm on, but back in 2012 I got roesaea and my neurologist told the dermatologist that I could get lupus from my medicine that I was taking. The only one I'm taking is Topamax which I started in 2006. My sister is on it too and she was just diagnosed with a autoimmune disease and she's been on Topamax for 14 years now. I'm not sure what to do about this whole thing? Both the neurologist and dermatologist are trying to… read more

Yes depending on what you are taking, plus you could have a heritage of family that have it too. I did look it up you may have lupus in you system before you had seizures. I hope this helped you, If I am incorrect, I apologize to you, God bless you🥰

It did not show the meds that can cause Lupus, but according to the note in the photo I took, there are 46 medications that can induce Lupus.

You may want to talk to your Dr. About this . Find out if any of your meds are inducing your Lupus. Maybe do some further research on what medications do this including AED meds

this is a quick search but yes, meds can cause lupus. fun fact lupus can be anything... meds, infection, sunlight, seizures (partial seizure paralysis or a tonic seizure), ect. it is a autoimmune disease. it is hard to tell with lupus cause thay hide under another disease or mimic other diseases. lupus outer is a butterfly face rash (a rash on the hole nose and cheeks). lupus inner is stiffness/joint pain, fatigue, fever, fingers/toes will turn white/blue when cold or stress, shortness of breath, chest pain, dry eye, headaches.
so yeah... it is possable.
