Hey everyone
Has anyone ever gone through the process of going from Tegretol to Keppra? Or just in general changed from one AED to another? I've never done it so I'm just trying to find out what to expect. I already get major side effect increases whenever I have a dosage increase, but I've never had a dosage going down and at the same time, I am slowly put on a new treatment.
Update: The specialist sent me the plan to get off Tegretol. I start Keppra today. I'm meant to be off Tegretol in 5β¦ read more
From my experience with taking Keppra (The Rage), i had anger, aggression, anxiety, headaches and loss of appetite. And it didn't control my seizures. But we are all different and results will vary from person to person. I would avoid taking Keppra and ask your doctor about taking another drug. Here is information on both drugs, then ask your doctor,

Thanks JackLaverty. Wishing you the best as you transition to a new treatment.
Best thing I would recommend is try for an appointment with your specialist or talk to your GP about your concerns one or the other should be able to help with your concerns. When trying for a specialist appointment mention why you want one hopefully this will get you on top of the list. Good luck '

Originally I had to get off Tegretol because it was bad for my Liver and it was then a few weeks after making this post I got a call from my Neuroligest saying Im still having seizures and the Tegretole is making them worse so I had to switch to Keppra. I've only been on it for just over a week but so far the seizure have died down a lot. I have had some side effects nothing bad. The worst thing is just getting off the Tegretol. I did my first reduction the other day which promoted an absent seizure very bad headache and nausea and vomiting but I've been since.
