In 2004 I had a small piece of my brain surgically removed. Best move in my life. Took about a week to recover and about two weeks to go back to chorus. Have had one seizure in 2010 and one in 2011. I’m taking a generic version of Vimpat, 150 mg, twice a day.
Wow. That is the conversation I need to have with the Neurologist, at my next appointment. I have been asked the question of whether I would like to go ahead by 3 Neurologists and said not yet, see how we go. I think now may be the time to seriously discuss surgery with them.
Definitely do it! Mine stoped the seizures I was having several times a day. Thankful.
Which type of surgery/treatment ? There’s the Temporal Lobe surgery. There the VNS surgery/treatment
There’s the RNS surgery/treatment
Then there is the DBS surgery/treatment.
I can’t give much feedback, if I don’t know, which procedures you’re wanting to know about
First of all, like Rusti said, ask a lot of questions about your surgery. I had a temporal lobectomy that led to 22 seizure-free years. The biggest thing I learned before surgery was having a 95 percent chance of better seizure control, 85 percent chance of total control ON meds, 70 percent chance of total control OFF meds. I was part of the 70 percent.
