About 5 months ago my 2 friends took me to a emergency room at a local hospital. I had a falling seizure a day and half before and I had the symptoms of a concussion. My friends and I wanted to find out if I did have a concussion for sure. Disappointing experience we all had. Didn't find out anything about a concussion. A month and a half later I got 3 bills totalling right under 5 thousand dollars. Got my medical records for that day, for I could get anyway. It was full of lies, with… read more
Thanks for the information JohnDufresne, appreciate it.
First, you are entitled to a list of the specific tests and services you were given so you know exactly what you are paying for. You may need to follow up on that information with the hospital's administration. You may then need to get a public defender (attorney) to follow up on your case . This is a free or low cost service
It was 1900 dollars and I never heard it cut on. I had them before, and I know it makes some noise. Insurance isn't the problem in this case. The medical records are full of lies, and I can prove it in court easy. I hate it going to that. But you have to do something to stop scams. And I don't want false medical records.
$5,000 dollars fair?? I mean come on, what kind of fair is that? A CT scan costs feck all , maybe €100, MRI €240 over here so that makes it nearly $4,000 (conversion rates etc) for reading same and admin costs - I actually feel for people with health issues and no health insurance over there, its like a death sentence in itself, they don't care...it's all about the $$$
MarileeGramith Don't take what I say in a wrong way. I don't hate hospitals because of this experience, but I do hate crime, and believe it should be stopped. University of Alabama would be a great place to go if it wasn't 70 miles away, or if I was still driving. Now this particular hospital will never see me again. I got my medical records for that day, and government authority instructed me to call and make a complaint to the business manager. When I did, they told me they didn't have a business manager. It would be hard for me to believe, if it didn't happen. There is plenty more, but that is all I need to say.
