Hi, I am new to this site. My daughter has refractory focal temporal partial seizures. She has tried every medication out there and also has a VNS. The doctors at Mayo are recommending deep brain stimulation. Has anyone tried this? Can you tell me how it worked for you? Any information would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you, Jodi

I've got refractory tonic-clonic and not as brave as RandySherman! I'm on my 2nd VNS and taking meds 4 times a day but I'm terrified of any type of brain surgery, I had enough problems when my seizures started (viral encephalitis) and I began having memory problems (still do).
Make the best decision for you, God Bless.
Next steps is to heal up for about 6 weeks and get to the device programmed.
