Who Has Experience With Clonazepam And Or Lorazepam?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Who has experience with clonazepam and or Lorazepam? I'm hoping to wein off of Clonazepam soon. I had a seizure every time we tried weining me off Lorazepam. So we switched to Clonazepam in the hopes that weining slowly off it won't cause seizures.

Lorazepam isn’t a AED drug . It originally is used for anxiety. But , people with Epilepsy, Lorazepam ( a generic brand of Ativan) is used as a seizure recovery medication.

Clonazepam is a AED drug. I’ve been on it before.

Jessie, Patricia is sharing truth of the process. And if you have read the responses from the Q + A that I put up regarding RNS, VNS and the like, it may reduced seizures, but extremely few get seizure free from having put in.

I am telling this (with background from link to experts so that you do not suffer after the RNS in. Unless you have an exceptionally honest neurologist, you will not be told this at your appointment.

The details about the RNS and details about it are on this Face Sheet (click on the the link on the page to get the fact sheet to download as pdf).
Here is the link to the Epilepsy Foundation to find out the facts: https://www.epilepsy.com/treatment/devices/resp...

PS. I get no pleasure in sharing the facts, but I would rather you know them all before having the surgery to install one.

I realize that most people do not like me on the support site because I share the facts from the experts rather than the sales pitch from the neurologist or neurosurgeon, but I honestly want the higher level of depression after having one installed for some. And I put up the Q + A so the friends on the team who have them or had them can give you information their experience with them in terms of seizure reduction. .

Anytime you are weening off of a medication you will have a few more seizures because your system is adjusting to a different dosage. Lorazepam might give you issues with breathing. Which also gave me problems with my asthma. It was created to relieve your anxiety. It never did so for me. There are other side effects to this drug too many to mention. You can go to this link to find out more, https://www.drugs.com/lorazepam.html
