It’s one of the basic and most common decision the Dr. Does .you are probably starting to feel like a Guinea pig. Well don’t worry we all have gone through this procedure many many times. I’ve had epilepsy all my life and have been on the majority of the medications on the market.

The Basic steps the Doctor uses ,with the AED meds………
1. Choose the medication the fits your type of Epilepsy and seizures.
2. The next appt. Visit, the Dr. Would order blood levels (Blood drawn ).
3 if meds levels are low , Dr. Will up the dose. If levels are good you would stay on your normal dose.
4. Next visit the Dr. may order for blood levels again . If still low, the Dr. Will keep raising meds by so much , until you reach the weight dosage to that medication.
5. Then the Dr. Has to decide what med to Change you to next.

After number 5 it gets more complex. Should the Dr. Change medication again? Should Dr. Keep you on the one medication but add another med? Should Dr. Change your medication schedule from once a day to 2 or 3 times a day? Is the Dr. Going to add a 3rd or 4th medication.

Once the Dr. Run out of all those different direction with the meds, he/she and you may have to start looking into other alternative treatments.

Right now it sounds like you’re still you still have ways to go with the medications
