A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Despite keeping hydrated and staying in the shade, I quite often get dizzy spells which sometimes leads to more seizure activity.

Well I get hot or over heated and I can go into a seizure. But when it is to hot outside I choose to stay in the air conditioning

For me keep using electrolytes, so yes water but also adding electrolytes.. also a lifeguard so i let people splash me if im feeling over heated, which cools me down usually.( my body tempature regulating system is easy to change) i also try to adjuat slowly, spend less time outside to begin with when its first getting warm, and also using hot tubs more frequently to adjust to heat more. plus i find heat a lot easier to handle than cold. Its always the winter months that i have a harder time with.

When I get real warm. I get heat excertion and strange smells triggers my seizures. I go get a cool rag or a shower to cool down. Try to drink a glass of water or milk. If there's a strange smell see what it is first or stay away from it depends on the smell.
When you go into a seizure never put nothing near your mouth and time for on how long the seizure lasts. If it lasts for more than 5min. I would go get checked at a hospital. If it's less than 5min. It would be all up to that person to see if they want to get checked or not.

Stay Hydrated. If you’re very sensitive to hot weather keep yourself cool.
