Can Anyone Share Your Experience After A Grand Mal Seizure And If You Have Injured Yourself?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

For those of you that have seizures once a year or longer, what meds and dosage are you on and how much do you take daily? I have grand mal seizures which my seizures occur about every 3 years. However, when I have one I really hurt myself. I've thrown my shoulders out of socket which needed surgery, bite my tough, etc. I've been on lamictal 100 mg/morning and 100 mg at night for years and seems to be the best med for me. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Laughter and any other source of positive emotions are great because they reduce stress levels at the same time as increasing happiness (and thus get us away from depression).

As I said before, the answer to WHY, that one is a challenge to see the clues as to the answer. At the very least part of the WHY is to be here to share your wisdom and bring happiness to friends with conversations on here with you.

I am granmal siezure free since January 2019.THANK GOD!
I take 1000mg Keppra TID and
Lyrica 150mg BID as an adjuctive anticonvulsant. I have had fewer partial siezures as the months go by. No partial siezures in last few weeks.
Pre Mayo Clinic Jacksonville FL 2018 I had many siezures of many different types of siezures. Thankful for referral by my primary care MD to Mayo Clinic! Now have zoom appointments with MayoTEAM.
Primary MD here does all RX and lab levels every 3 months.
Mayo TEAM is included with lab work and progress notes from primary care MD. I have just got established with a new local neurologist. Migraines caused from old injuries to spine have started after I broke my patella 2 Decembers ago. PT pushed me too hard. Old whiplashes from auto accidents, horse bucks, broken foot, broken tailbone..were brought back to irritated spine injuries! Can only take Tylenol for pain. Do yoga and walk 2 plus miles daily with Josie. This helps keep pain at bay. Starting PT and pinpoint injection of Tordal in February. Have had clicking sound in head which turns to migraine. Don't worry I'm happy! GOOD LUCK GOOD NIGHT 😴 🥱 Josie snoring beside me! LOL 💞

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Yeah, 4 hours in the airport alone was indeed ridiculous. However, so are so many other things these days.
And an excellent example is in the medical fields where all of the advances in technology and treatments are not of much use if we do not have enough good doctors, nurses, therapists and other medical staff. Even those with the knowledge that do not have the bedside manner or even listen to their patients are not much help. And, yes, there are many reasons for this (not the least is the frustration of having to deal with medical insurances and be forced to join these medical conglomerates in order to keep practicing medicine because the smaller practices and hospitals cannot economically survive.

Good for you Carolyn! I just came back from Florida. It was so relaxing and the weather was perfect. We all need time to ourselves. Glad you made some for yourself!

My husband donated his body to science. He had all final papers and legal forms in order. This made it much easier for me. I didn't have to be the one who determined when to pull the plug. Our family and friends came together and honored his wishes! MISS HIM! 16 years has flown by. ENJOY EACH MOMENT! LOVE IS EVERLASTING! Our family dynamics changed but our love faith family has grown stronger!
