A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello friends,

When i was young, i had to change med every two years, jump from tegretol to another to control my seizures.

Does any one know why? Or having the same issue, if so do you take a special test to know, if so something changing to replace the current med before too late?

Probably, hormone change or something else?

Thank you,
Feras

Ive been on so many meds w/ increases over the years. Some times its because your body gets used to that level and needs more. Some times you grow and/or gain weight. Some times hormones/pregnancies come into play. There are many different reasons. Some times its just that the med doesnt work for you. Ive tried some that cause more; others that dont stop my normal amount.

Hi Feras, my name is Lee Evans and I suffer from absent seizures with my epilepsy, Feras, I used to take TEGRETOL, but grew out of them due to adolescence and had two seizures within the space of a month,So done blood tests, and changed my medication from carbamazepine, to EPILIM
& CLOBAZAM. And I am now doing fine. I had to have countless numbers of blood tests to find the right medication for me and now they have done and I’ve been settled on knees since the age of 18 years old and I am now 50 years old. I hope I have been of some help to you and answered your question in some way.
Kind regards,
Lee Evans.-
