Seizures In Sleep
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was wondering if people have figured out a way to track seizures in their sleep or if theres a bracelet or device that people use to help them know if they had a seizure overnight?? I often wake up competley drenched in sweat, or my shirt/blanket will be covered in spit almost (i foam at the mouth during grand mals) or my tongue will be really bruised and cut from me biting it..and i usually know that i’ve had a seizure by these signs. But i would love a way to know for sure

i wake up with the inside of my mouth very sore like it's been chewed.
when i first started having seizures i'd wake up with a wet bed which was just about before my teens. (always got told off for it shouted at and smacked)
Also i've always had nightmares/night terrors (what ever you want to call them)
which are linked to high brain activity which again is linked to epilepsy.
All these things can be linked to how different cultures around the world looked upon us as visionaries to the tribe because of what we saw in the dreams.
So if you have very detailed vivid dreams that you remember when you wake up you've most probably have had a seizure.
The natural chemical that is produced by the body is known as DMT (what you'd find in magic mushrooms) so basically we are naturally tripping without knowing it.
Of course Christians back in the day didn't understand what was going on thought we where possed by demons and killed us to free are souls from the demon inside.
Sorry for waffling on about this topic but i like researching things

If your seizures are on the severe side, then the Embrace watch made by empatica , could work

One way that I am sure that I have had a seizure is that I have a migraine-like headache when I wake up. It is like a headache that is unlike any other. In order to get rid of it I sleep on and off for the next three or four days. Anything that occasionally causes me to get up when I have a night time seizure is like above I will urinate in bed or arise and not be able to control my urination. It is embarrassing but it seems very common. You also have to change clothes and bedding.

My mom always used a baby monitor for me, but now I'm not at home so the doctor told me to get a camera like those you use for keeping track of someone coming outside you're door

My son has seizures in his sleep. I bought a Garmin vivoactive 3 watch & uploaded "openseizure-detector" to it. I get a text message with every seizure. The app isnt compatible with apple only android. The watch was $160 & the app is free. Its much cheaper then the seizure watch.
It helps me sleep instead of staring at the monitors. Hope this helped!
