A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I might be having a [[treatment:lesionectomy:552d975d6bcd61ccf20009f5]] sometime in the future. I've had lots of tests, and I'm having a fMRI scan next week, and discussion about whether surgery is worth it or not (my seizures are mostly focal and not quite every day and I'm on 3 drugs). I'm interested in it but I don't know if it would make me worse
What I want to know is how [[treatment:lesionectomy:552d975d6bcd61ccf20009f5]] has helped or hindered anyone. Does it remove seizures or make you… read more

Steven Mason:
YOU have been on a "drug store" of Medications.
YOU like me have kept a very detailed list of Medications.

Now about these Medications~ Which ones have worked ???
AND which ones didn't work controlling your SEIZURES???
I have a name for what your DOCTOR is attempting to do.
That is "MEDICATION ROULETTE"

What are you on NOW that's working ????
AND are they Gereric or BRAND ????

Stephen, I am so saddened to hear about you no longer having your Mom there to listen & pray for you... I have lost both of my parents, but I actually had a dream where I saw them both in heaven! And the HUG between us was great! I pray that God blesses you with the comfort & peace that you need in this season of life. I do continue with memory losses (despite going back to school).
And I do confuse words when I speak... and I'm not even aware that I am doing it! (Yes, I do get some odd looks from people!). I find that I need a longer time period to compose my thoughts in my head before and while I am speaking, otherwise my communication isn't completely clear. My husband needed to learn to listen to me... especially when I had not completed my thoughts. I actually find it easier to type or write down my thoughts. That's because the R side of my brain is doing more of the work. Today I did see my new Neuro. The testing that was done 2 weeks ago was not done correctly. The MD's interpretation was also omitted. The sleep study part was done, but the EEG leads were not used. He wanted to be able to see what was taking place during my sleep patterns. I have to call my insurance company to make sure that they will cover another test so soon. This new MD actually listened to me... I gave him a copy of the surgeon's report from the 2010 surgery so that my chart would be more complete. I think the greatest lesson has been that God's strength shows itself the strongest in my weaknesses... and that God ALWAYS is FAITHFUL to care for His sheep!
Shalom. Maire' -- Here comes a Great Big HUG for you too!

Stephen when I was diagnosed it was mostly on my left temporal lobe and I had lesions on my brain as well I think they were going to cut the brain open on the left side and remove some lesions or a part where the temporal lobe was to reduce my seizures or be seizure free it was during all the tests they found it had spilt over to the right I think it was the last test where they make you have a seizure inject a blue dye and do some tests I’m not sure I just remember getting the test and them asking me questions before all that they drilled some stuff into both sides of my head reduce my meds to make me have a seizure to inject this blue dye I was in the hospital for 5 days x x
