Has Anyone Ever Experienced Fluid Retention While Taking Keppra?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I've been taking Keppra for almost 8 years now and off and on I've experienced unsightly fluid retention in the legs and stomach. I've never thought to associate the two previously but in the warmer months it gets pretty bad.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar while taking Keppra or perhaps I just have a predisposition to fluid retention....

If you have experienced it how have you managed it?

Heavy sweating, nausea, vomiting, dark colored urine from dehydration.Plus you can Google Keppra.

It turns out after writing it I was diagnosed with lower limb lymphoedema. I wear compression stockings every day.

I also have an unfortunate gene mutation Leiden factor 5 which means I'm 8 time more likely to develop a blood clot. The general thought of the lymphoedema clinic I see is that I most like had previously undiagnosed blood clots which led to the lymphoedema.

No I can't control it. I have been on Keppra 14 years or longer

My son was put on keppra and he gained 20 kilos in one year. His stomach has remained bloated even though he’s off keppra. It was devastating for him and compromised his mobility
