Does Anyone Else Have An Up & Down Type Of Depression?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else have an up & down type of depression? One day you’re good, another day you’re doing well but something small makes you emotional & cry all of the sudden, another day you're good but something annoying happens & you get angry fast, another day and you’re sitting with your kitty (or other pet) on your lap at 8pm & you just hold them, thanking them & saying you love them, because they’ve saved your life... going in an up & down wobbly circle.

The ups and downs are rough and the downs are not just a state of mind. The brain chemicals are actually changed during seizures and are somewhat rebalanced as our brains heal after seizures. Here is to more up days in 2020

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I am on the antidepressant Effexor. and the seizure medication Clonazepam also is used for panic attacks, this has some help for depression too. Lamotrigine is given to me for the seizures, but it is also given to some with bipolar disorder, thus it also helps with depression.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Hi John, yes been on and off antidepressants for years (currently back on them) and just started with a therapist as the waiting list here to see a psychologist is very long.

I constantly go up and down. One day I can be quite happy but by the time the evening comes I feel really down, depressed and lonely. Sometimes I’m in bed by 6pm.
