General Health & Well-being Vs Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

How does your general wellbeing and other health issues effect your epilepsy.
Along with epilepsy and all challenges associated with epilepsy, WE all still face other general health issues etc.
What about YOU when you fall ill; When you cook up a fever, upset stomach, ... for a couple of days, or any other health issues. HOW DOES THAT EFFECT YOUR EPILEPSY, & SEIZURES?
No difference, More seizures, or [maybe even]Less seizures ??

I good health wise. But if I’m late on meds, don’t get enough sleep , overly stressed and overly excited all trigger me to seizure.

I used to think that any type of exercise would make me have seizures but now I keep myself as fit as I can by going to the gym and riding my mountain bike aswell I find that that can help my seizures a bit. If I get any type of sickness it makes my seizures a lot worse so so I've got to be very careful with getting sick .

Menstruation triggered seizures and now menopause is making things worse! So I definitely have seizures that are controlled by hormone system!? I'm not sure what to do about it? Catamenial epilepsy- tubes tied or something like that? Hormone control?

I have become aware of which cold remedies to avoid. Do my best to keep a cold out of my lungs. (Flonase/albuterol inhaler) have also learned that antibiotics lower the seizure threshold, making my AED's compete, and I usually wind up having at least one unexpected seizure while on antibiotics.
So, a flu shot is a necessity, as is good hand washing. And using frequent hand washing and common sense.
Regards, jeff
