I got a VNS implanted. It's now 19 years old. I've been tested and the results say, I qualify for the newer VNS that's triggered by ones heartrate. Therefore I need people's advice and opinions to see if this is worth doing, by knowing some of other people's experiences.
They don't necessarily stop my seizures, but I feel, VNS minimizes how hard the seizure strikes.
Does the vns stop seizures
The old VNS has done good. However, due to the fact that the current one needs triggered with the magnet, I don't always have someone to trigger it on when seizures strike in my sleep. The newer version is triggered by heart rate, and therefore won't need someone's hand. So that's the reason docs want to upgrade to the newer version.
Hi Jmaestas, I am glad that the implant has been helping you for that long a time. Is there something about the new implant that makes the doctor want to upgrade to the new one? What are the doubts that you are having about the upgrade (or is it just that the current one is just operating fine?) Have you had any side effects from the current implant? Thanks so much for any info you can give.
Well in my situation, I've had the older version for 19 years. And docs want to upgrade to the newer version, but my doubts are pending and that is the reason I wanted to know if anyone else has gone through that process, and if so, what pros and cons did they experience?
