I'm planning on having the temporal lobectomy surgery next month. What is the expected timeline of feeling better? My doctor said 5 weeks but I am interested to hear what that means. Does that mean in two weeks you felt better enough to go out or not need assistance or did it take longer? Thanks!
Either a left side (like me) or a right lobectomy it seems as if everyones results differ, Mostly the surgery was a success but recovery and daily headaches made me struggle longer than six weeks, but my seizures decreased. Prayers for your surgery and recovery, Everyday your alive Make sure it’s the Greatest Day of your life.
I got my right front temporal lobe taken out. I was in the hospital for a week while getting the surgery done.
It takes 5-8 weeks to heal enough where can do anything extravagant. For the 5-8 weeks you need to relax , have weight lifting restrictions , no heavier than 5 pounds , and you may get headaches during this healing time. They will probably send you home with painkiller meds.
After you have healed you’ll be able to make an appt. to get the stitches removed from your head.
For myself. After I went through all that , my Epileptologist did a couple of follow up tests to compare me to the same tests I did before the surgery .
I had my left amygdala and hippocampus taken out. I don’t remember how long it took me to physically get better, but emotionally it took two years. I went into surgery happily engaged and working my dream career, but woke up from surgery feeling like I hated him and had no memory of the medical field. I went into a deep depression, had some close calls with suicide, but was able to get out by taking a $300 DNA test that shows which antidepressants work best for your body. I hope you heal quickly and don’t have any of the emotional side effects I had!
Sorry if I sound very negative but I had a right temporal lobectomy on 2015, since I had 120 seizure per month doctor said that it was only my right side affected which was a lied because after removing my hippocampus and amygdala they realize that my whole brain was affected. Now because of the surgery I cannot have a long term so every day is a new day for me.
