I was prescribed by a shrink Klonopin to sleep as I was stressed out from Hurricane Florence. Instead of giving me what I asked which was diazapam and OR Xanax he refused the controlled substance and upped my Klonopin. It was making me more nervous and anxious and contributing to my nervous breakdown. After 3mos I expressed again it wasn't working my BP was up to 154/101 and my pulse sitting was 114. Yet he ignores me. I tell him I'm gonna rip someone's face off (I guess the keppra rage lol) he tells me "I don't care if you do your cholesterol is high"
I took myself off of them that night.
My neurologist refused the controlled substance also. I expressed I was not being medically treated properly he wanted to know what I meant. That's self explanatory. Being prescribed an anti depressed for anxiety and stress on nerves ?
My eye was twitching since Nov and I was fighting a grand mahl since Dec plus I was shaking like crazy.
Went to GP Jan 3rd saw shrink mid Jan and Neuro end Feb all refused me Diazapam/xanax to reduce my nervous breakdown needs.
My seizure triggers are stress and broken/lack of sleep.
They are all lucky I didn't have a grand mahl in middle of Walmart
Moral of story if your not happy with your meds don't take them.
I'm in NC which is going to a NO CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE state. All the docs are afraid of audits.
Sorry for the novel but I wasn't put on it for seizures but to "nurture" my triggers. Klonopin is love it or hate it med there is no in between. Out of 3 I only know 1 who takes it effectively.

Thank you and I agree. I just was really concerned when the pharmacist mentioned the drowsiness and then when I looked it up it said the same.

I have such a struggle with being so tired, I just really don’t want something that might add to it.

My UT Doctor has always told me to not pay attention to all the side effects of medications because there is a large amount of side effects with any kind of seizure medication my doctor says the more you read about side effects the more you will believe you have those side effects so from my experience I listened to my doctor and stopped reading about side effects and I believe it really does help
