Sleep/rest Following A Seizure
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

How long do you sleep and rest after having a seizure? It takes me about 5 hours to sleep off 1 seizure so I can't imagine how long it takes some of you to recover that have multiple seizures in a day.

It really depends on the amount and length. Sometimes I am fine, others I am exhausted and need need at least a 30min nap to recover. Then for really bad ones I need hours.

It depends for me. It used to take me a while to recover from one. I would have to sleep it off for several hours. That was before I was diagnosed and just after though. Now it will make me feel "run down" but I usually don't sleep them off unless I have clusters or have to take valium for them. Still when I have them, I'm not up for doing a lot afterward though, I usually just want to be left alone/stay at home for a while.

When I have a grand mal I am off to the hospital via ambulance. There gravol ect so after I get home I crash for several hours.
It takes a couple of days for me to properly move as there are so many muscles involved. Wendy
