Vaccination And Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I know this is a touchy subject and I am not looking to start an argument here....

Simple question....has anyone who has epilepsy had issues with any of the vaccines and seizures as side effects? Any high fevers afterwards that caused febrile seizures?

Thanks.

Ahhh I see. Didn't realize you were in New Zealand. Sounds similar to the states for reporting events. I don't know exactly how you feel. But I agree that the small percentage who do have serious adverse reactions can be devastating and is unacceptable. I have done my fair share of looking into vaccines for my children over the years and proceeded with much caution. I will keep you and your wife in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping she can recover from this and the seizures will stop. My best to you both.

Hi- I am sorry to hear about your wife's experience. I know a few people that have had a rough time with that vaccine - not necessarily seizures though. Did you report it to her PCP and file a report with the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program so it is on record? You can do it online. I do believe that vaccines are not a one-size-fits-all thing - most people do fine but some respond differently. I wish her well. Take Care.

Yes. I had to take the Tdap shot and had a really bad seizure from it

Hi- We are in New Zealand, yes we put a report to the adverse events board we also got the medical centre to put a report in as well, but have heard no more from them. I appreciate that it can be a very low percentage that gets a reaction, it can be devasting for those that do. All the best.
