5 Grand Mal Seizures In 5 Hours
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi there. I had 5 Grand mal seizures within 5 hours 9 days ago. The hospital released me because i wanted to go and was being real horrible, abusive and wanted to be let out, which i have no memory of. I still feel real weird, scared and just not right. I have been back to my GP who sent a neurology referral away. Has anyone else experienced this many seizures in a day and how long will i feel like this?? Please HELP I really feel like im going crazy.

Yes I have had more than that in one day. As you age seizure activity changes.

everyone is different but when i was a kid to when i had my surgery, i have complex partials into grand mals (focal onset impaired awareness into tonic clonics) every hour. so dont worry. its a combo of the seizures and the recovery time. sometimes the recovery time take a couple of seconds (me) or some people take minutes to hours. if you have another seizure before the recovery time its called a cluster. i dont know you but for me it was a regular day. you will be tired and/or dont want to do anything. you will 'recharge fully' when you go to sleep.
i say this all the time 'every single person is crazy (epilepsy and regular), it just the amount'. seizures didnt define you. just do some research. the more you know the less you will be stressed out.

I have never had that many seizures but I have had grand Mal seizures that last around 20 minutes. It does take several days to recover. I'm sure longer since you had so many. Hope you feel better soon

I seem to go through rolling pass out fits, when I wake up there are out of body feelings along with confusion over people I know but can't remember who they are. on bad days deja vu feelings hit like hammers Tegretol is the only med I can take, others make fits horrendous. I Hope You Have A Great Day, From Down Under (hope you like the Tasmanian Devil )

at my worst, I had an average of 33 seizures per hour during a sleep study test. They weren't grand mal, but that's a lot of brain firing. My best results for prevention has been since I started using cannabis and cbd oil. Wonderful stuff. I feel better than I have in decades.
