Have you tried the ketogenic diet for seizures and how did it go?
Keto for 15 months. Along with VNS, I'm stabilized. No more staring spells. Rarely do have a focal seizure that I reed to worry about progressing into a grand mal. Maybe once a month?
As a disclaimer; it was obvious that I was having seizures an hour after carb heavy meals. We could tell from my seizure log. It made sense to go on a low carb- no carb diet. ( not to lose weight )
Some say it's too hard to stick with.
I see it this way: eat normal=seizures
Eat keto= no seizures.
I choose keto.
I started my son on the modified atkins diet almost two weeks ago. Even without having the diet mastered yet, the frequency and intensity of his seizures greatly improved after a week and a half. I hope it is not just a coincidence.
I did the modified atkins diet (a version of keto prescribed by my doctor and done under the supervision of a dietitian) for a little under 2 months. I noticed a significant decrease in inflammation, my skin was clearer, I had more energy and was thinner. It did not help my seizures but I know it does help many people with seizures. Good luck!
It was recommended that I try either Keto or the Mediterranean diet. I tried Keto first. This was 3+ yrs ago and I noticed that I speak with more clarity but if I'm stressed or tired, my memory gets foggy again and names and simple words just won't come to me.
took it for about 10+years. the scale broke so i took a brake for about 5 years then loosely keto/mad (modified atkins diet). i had different meds when i first started the keto. i settled with keppra and phenobarbital. the 2 meds were high. at the end my meds were (and still are) the lowest you can go. this thing works for me. and i was a teen when i went on it.
