Epilieptologists have a bigger understanding of Epilepsy. They can find different paths to try for treatments and the want to know what we are experiencing, and don’t make you thing that your imagining things. Things like changes in behavior, changes in our seizures , how are we feeling with our body and ect. They want to try and get our seizures under control.

I always feel comfortable with my Epileptologist . I can ask and talk about my experiences and not get a sarcastic remark. She usually wants to hear and know a little more, and getting input back.

They r much more detailed. Most epileptologists go over ur whole history even before u started having seizures. They r trying to establish and gather as much info for the best treatment and tests, that ur garden neurologist missed.

NEUROLOGIST VS EPITOLOGIST WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? THERE IS SOME CONFUSION OVER THE EXACT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEUROLOGIST VS EPITOLOGIST But when you look at them the difference becomes quite apparent.... A Neurologist is a Dr. That specializes in the study and treatment of disorders associated with the brain and nervous system and is able to diagnose and treat Epilepsy. An EPITOLOGIST is an Neurologist that specializes only in the diagnosis and treatment of Epilepsy and more Specifically Epileptic Conditions and Seizure Disorders. I had my first seizure at two years old. So I was diagnosed with both Epilepsy and a Seizure Disorders. What caused mine was Lack of Oxygen from birth. They ran all kinds of test which was an CT Scan and EEG to pinpoint where my seizures was located, the cause, and Diagnosis of what type of Epilepsy I have. I was diagnosed. With Lennox Gastaut Syndrome which is a rare case of Epilepsy. An Neurologist diagnosed me with Epliepsy due to the type of Epilepsy I was diagnosed with I have an Eplitologist. Since the age of 2 He or She may Do An MRI ,CT Scan, also EEG to pinpoint where they are located and find out the cause and what type of Epilepsy you may have. And what Medication would be best to treat your seizures

every dr, whether its a head, heart, immune system, ect, will tell you your background history and past meds and allergic. a epilepto is a neuro that specialize in seizures (just fyi). then the epilepto will ether stay the same, if you are under control. try to wean the meds, if you are seizure free. or change med or do testing if you have an increase or your side effects made you have bad stuff (side effects from meds). i had fired a lot of drs (neuros and epilepto) because i didnt trust um. trust is the key. if you need someone (for your help or forgetting stuff) get a friend or family.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. Check and see if your insurance may cover your state college hospital. Many colleges have epileptologists .
