I have had four gran mal/ tonic clonic seizures in the past few months. Two in October and two in December, Tulane has offered no or very little support. I am in their MSW program and have just asked for a little more time on assignments after I have had a seizures. This past December when I had my two seizures, I had to get stitches in my lip and fractured my right shoulder. I have no memory of that week and I did some very wacky things. I'm thinking either go to a different college...one that at least cares about your condition...quit school, which really isn't good lol...or ask your neurologist to send in some notes to your college to at least give you the respect u deserve. Sounds to me like there is to much hitting u at one time. Stress plays the role in your seizures. I pray u can take things more easy.
I don’t know if it’s the same there, but when I was in college, I had to go through the disability center because under the ADA, if I had a doctor right out recommend accommodations as well as potential complications with my disability (in my case I was getting accommodations for dyslexia) they had to honor it because it’s a law. Now as far as the emails, I wonder if you can have your doctor explain your lack of awareness and strange activities after a seizure so that they can evaluate your accountability to your actions. I mean, even if you weren’t aware of it you did send a test to another student so you may have to retake the class but it could keep you from getting kicked out of school. I don’t know if any of this was helpful but it’s all I can think of.
You should have a staff with you and have the teacher should make notes for you i have a staff with me in school and they are with me in my classes and job sites
I live in England and we can get extra time to complete college/University work
I don't know how the system works in America but they should allow you this extra time or I would say it's discrimination
You cannot be discriminated against because of the American's with Disabilities Act. Google it. The person/student being discriminated against can take legal action. I believe there are lawyers who work for the AMA to advise and prosecute those who don't uphold the law.
