For those who have been seizure free for a long time (talking years) what do you put it down to?
For me, it's been having a right temporal lobectomy.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - big congrats on hitting 3 yrs of seizure freedom! I'm at 2 yrs, 2 months & am very happy too.
Glad you found the right drugs to help in your fight. Everyone is a little different though. I tried Lamotrigine as my 3rd drug. My neurologist wasn't certain it was a possible solution for me so he started me slowly in low dosage (50 mg/dy). After 6 wks, when I got up to 150 mg/dy I had to quit it immediately b/c of a bad reaction.
Not many people are allergic to Lamotrigine in North America. Only 0.3 of 1 percent (3 people out of 1,000 with Epilepsy) have to avoid Lamotrigine. But it's fantastic that it works for you!
Keep up the great work of beating Epilepsy. I send you my best wishes.
taking my pills exactly 24 hours after my last dose. right down to the minute by using an alarm. reducing my stress by writing everything down in a notebook because my short term memory is so awful and it gets very annoying.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - I agree with mtnbkr (btw - this is a great writer's name!). Yes - once the proper meds have been ID'd, take them religiously as instructed. And also yes, reduce stress (simple walking or other exercises).
Keep a positive thought toward beating Epilepsy.
Religiously taking meds and reduced stress.
