Does anyone else have dental problems? I've been trying to find some sort of help because I've needed most of my teeth taken out for awhile now. I was told by several doctors, when I was younger, that the combination of medication specially the seizure meds can cause gum rot. I've been to several message boards and it seems like most people my age who at one point had to take medication for an extended amount of time have dental issues.

Is this true for you? How have you dealt with it?

Sometimes you can find a Medical School that teaches medicine that will take you in at no coast to you.

I was on a handful of medications including muscle relaxants narcotics and seizure meds from the age of about five until about seventeen. If that helps anyone... At one point they had me on a thousand milligrams of Ibuprofen a day. I'm 38 now so yeah this was a bit back before they knew about the issues with children and certain medications. At one point they even tried blood pressure medication, I'm not sure why I've never had an issue with blood pressure. I think I was on Dilantin because it was commonly used to treat seizures but I'm not sure. I do remember having eight different specialists, at once, because my mother still complains about it, heh. Right now I don't have a solution. However, I do call the local Dental school to see if there are any openings. So, far there haven't been for the amount of work I need to have preformed. About a year ago I found myself in the hospital overnight due to an infected tooth. They had me see a dentist while there and he told me that I could not have one tooth removed at a time because it would cause issues. So, I have to wait. There is some good news though. My husband and I are not legally married yet. We've been together for sometime now and to us It's never really been a big deal. However, he's a veteran and we discovered that I maybe able to get some dental help if we do get legally married. We're going to the court house in a few weeks. Thanks for the replies, hugs to all.
