Exercising And Seizures
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi Everyone (New here!)

I recently starting having partial seizure clusters (normally controlled 90% w meds). I narrowed the reasoning down to my recent increase (major) in exercise. I don't know if it's from dehydration, lack or calories, or over-doing it, BUT I am a normally active person, have gone from 0-60 in the past (exercise-wise) and this has never happened. It is the only thing I can relate this to. Normal stress/hormone/LIFE.. except for this. Going on 5 days of clusters and slowly… read more

I totally believe age is just a number. I have been weight training for years. I do yoga, run, hike, and lift. I did Crossfit a few years ago until I had a horseback riding accident. I think this time, the issue is because I was stagnant from not exercising over winter for so long and jumped into the deep end like I was in-shape. My body basically said hell-no. The weird thing was is that before the clusters started I felt fine. They came on very suddenly. And I am going on 5 days of rest now without them going away… its really frustrating.

at home i do just walking for a hour or 2 hours. if i go to the gym i do run for 15-20 minutes, then go to the training weights, then repeat. i think you are 'over doing it' and you are tired at the beginning. and age is just a number.

that has happened to me, it was the repetitious that triggered me I always kept myself hydrated, over doing it is not good try slowing down you shouldn't go from 0-60 it should be a gradual thing. look for a gym that has free personal trainers to work with.

My Other half is a personal trainer. HA. I know better than to over-do it and have been keeping track of everything, BUT I am wondering of it's age (catching up to me) and possible calorie deficit.
