Do You Have Jaw Problems After Temporal Lobe Surgery?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a RTLE in 2003. When I got out of ICU and a meal arrived I learned for the first time that my jaw would only open about 1/4 inch. And even that much opening was causing extreme pain in the right side of my face. For the 2 days I was in the hospital after surgery they could only feed me 2 scoops of mashed potatoes, i got them into my mouth by licking the potatoes frombetween the tines of the fork after fitting the fork between my teeth.

Here I am 15 years later- my mouth opens now but… read more

Yeah it depends on how hard I bite in the seizure but dislocation I don't need to worry about now my jaw got wired up at the back and have about 5/6 metal plates holding the front together (one proper "Terminator") and that's not including the rods and pins in the arms.
All of these injuries where from one seizure which I had when crossing a road and was hit by 2 cars travelling in opposite directions.
The Dr said that i'm lucky to be alive.
(it's a "MATRIX" thing I was following the "White Rabbit" at the time)

No brain surgery on me I like my brain the way it is but I do know some one who has had that surgery and since then she's suffering from depression low self confidence (can't go anywhere without someone going with her) if there's no one around that she knows it's a panic attack she has changed so much.
I go up as much as possible and go do stuff I mean she's got family up were she lives (out in the country) but they can't be around all the time.
It's sad really because she was a really fun girl and the surgery created some sort of syndrome.
