I'm thinking about getting an ID bracelet. The ones I've seen just say epilepsy. Is that enough? What do other people have put on their bracelets? I'm not sure about putting my meds on it because I don't want to have to keep changing the bracelet if my meds change.
My military type dog tag medical warning simply has epilepsy on the backside. It was originally on a chain around my neck, but as put on a key ring and clipped to my waist belt. Police and emergency personnel find it easy, with more information available in my wallet.
I have one.. It reads:
Penecillin
PDA '83
Craniotomy '03
Pda is an open heart surgery I had at 9 months old (important to know about if Im unable to communicate with medical professionals)
My neurologist suggested I put 'craniotomy' rather than the more accurate 'right temporal lobectomy' because he said 'everyone knows what the cranium is, not everyone will recognize lobectomy as a brain surgery... Once they see your scar they will be able to figure out what happened'
Its not glamorous but I have a custom designed gold, whitegold, and silver bracelet that I have only removed for MRIs and surgery for the past 18 years.
If you have metal implants (VNS) adding a line like this might help:
Embedded metal
Or
VNS implant
Hope this helps a bit.
I have “No ambulance unless injured” and my ICE info
I had some military style dog tags made. They have my name, that I have partial complex seizures, VNS, emergency contact, and to look for additional medical info in my wallet.
I wrote that I'm epileptic and my meds I'm allergic 2 cause those dont change and one is a Popular Seizure med and others are popular meds they give out.
