Temporal Lobe Resection
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had surgery on my left temporal lobe in 1996 and had part of it removed and now im back to having seizures again about 5 years later to where they said its from the rest of my left temporal lobe what will it cause if i was to have surgery again i already have a bad memory. They say it may be part of my right temporal lobe also

I was 14 years seizure free after left temporal lobe surgery.. Seizures started again may 2017... There is no chance in hell that i would allow them to take more out of my skull. I have a horrible short term memory and mood issue... If I let them take more out Ill be a drooling idiot like one flew over the cuckoos nest.

Before I had part of my left temporal lobe removed I had a wada test done to see how the operation would effect my memory and speech so I'd say until you have that test done again you wont really know how bad it will effect your memory more. Ask your neurologist to maybe play around with your meds again to try get some sort of control again of your seizures before making your decision
