How Do You Deal With Stress To Prevent A Seizure?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Surrey, BC

My biggest triggers are stress and sleep derivation. Sleep I have been able to manage a little better. But I was wondering how people deal with stress or had any tip or trick? Either at home or work. Thank you

My seizures are caused by same things. I started exercising; just walking helps to reduce stress. Do it consistantly especially if you are inside the house a lot. Keep doing things you love whether its hanging out with family/friends, reading, watching movies, whatever. But, the worst stress for me was not working and sitting around thinking about my seizures all of the time. I am on a low dose anti-depressant also bc I have anxiety and depression. It helps me, but if you don't want to do that try to keep doing things you love. Its easy for us living with epilepsy to always wait for the next seizure to happen and stress about it. It's a lot of pressure so I understand. Take care.

I mays out hypocritical as I am currently suffering from severe Anxiety, Stress and Depression (But I am getting treatment), BUT, some tips I have given friends and online pals in the past which apparently worked wonders, are; Avoid Caffeine-it is so bad for stress. Take part in Physical Activity-I do Yoga and pilates.
Get More Sleep which you sound like you're managing well now? Try Relaxation Techniques (Yoga or meditation are great) Talk to Someone, either on here or in person. Keep a Stress Diary where you will see your triggers more. Take Control (,maybe following these tips) and finally Manage Your Time. Try not to spend a lot of your time focussing on the stress. Big hugs x

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I agree I have been off work for a while looking for a new job, so the worst part is being at home all the time, and the transit where i live isnt very good so I am usually at home majority of the time unless my fiance is off. I think I'll try to start running, see if it works well in the rain though

I few things I have done , is finding a quiet spot relax, listen to music , watch tv or movie that doesn’t have a lot of action or violence and a very good rest.
