Non Convulsion Status Epilepticus

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Dothan, AL

Sometimes I get this partial seizure that can last a very long . Longest one I had was 3 hours. I dont have any rescue meds.
Does anyone go to the hospital in these cases? Or do they let them pass?
I have never gone becaue one i dont have insurance and two im alert during these seizures.
It can be bad for seizure activity to last that long. Can cause brain damage and lead to convulsion status epilepticus witch is more dangerous. Any thoughts?

Seizuring that long can be close to danger. I say close , because 5 minutes is when your brain will start struggling for oxygen and can cause brain 🧠 damage.

You may want to look and see if your state carries a Medical Assistant insurance program. You need to be able to visit a clinic for a neurologist and in case of an emergency, you need to be able to go to the hospital without paying out of your pocket. If your not sure , you maybe able to find out through the Epilepsy Foundation in your state. They can find the info and phone number for that insurance program.
