For me yes it is worth paying for meds and dealing with side effects even though my seizures are intractable. The meds some what control my seizures but not totally, if I didn't take meds they could be worse.

Absolutely and here's why. I stopped my medications 10 years ago for a window of one year. (From 2006-2007) because I felt better and my mind was more clear. However, after that year, I had my very first of two grand-mal seizures while at work. After getting back on medication, I always have daily/weekly auras and petit-mals but haven't had a grand-mal since. Please do NOT stop your medication.

My seizures are intractable also, but they do control them enough where I won’t be seizuring all day. On average I have 1 seizure a day.

If your seizures are intractable and meds. aren't working have you and your Doc. talked about surgery ?
I've had right Temporal Lobe lobectomy and it cut my seizures way back. But for some, surgery
stopped their seizures for good. You might want to talk to your Doctor and look into it. Good luck.
