Are You Creative?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

My auras take me to thoughts that are unusual and often lovely. I don't harness them as an inspiration to create something meaningful, though. Is this a missed opportunity? In a larger context...

Do you consider yourself creative or not? If so, have you always thought you were (even before your seizures began) or is it something you began enjoying after you had your seizure? What do you think are the reasons? Is there anything you know for sure re: the relationship between epilepsy and… read more

Origami is something that I enjoy-it has been proven profitable not only for me but other people for several important events in their lives-ex-a wedding. When in college the person in charge of the building I was living in asked me to show/teach other people living around me how to make things. Half of the buildings population showed up to that event-both of these buildings had 7 floors. If anybody is interested there is a small book : Quick & Easy Origami by Toshie Takahama- This comes with paper as well. It does not take a high IQ to fold paper it just takes patience, time, and the will to not give up easily. There is creativity in everybody-it just needs to be found by yourself and how can each of us use it-by doing something.

I've always written poetry since a young age. Started hiding them and keeping them safe from my father who used to throw them away... But I've had epilepsy since I was 18, and my writing has grown in such a way that it's more than bleek, and morbid. It evolved to the full spectrum of beauty. Some find beauty and comfort in darkness. Others in softness and the conventional meaning of beauty, peace, and serenity. I've learned to just let whatever flows out through the pen, to the paper, someone will find beauty in it. Somewhere. I guess I'm saying do what you need to do to be creative/artistic in your own way, shape, and form. Someone will find it beautiful, and an entire different interpretation than you intended, or thought of altogether.

There is a long known connection between epilepsy and IQ, the higher the IQ, the higher the rate of occurrence for epilepsy. I am a writer, poetry, short stories and longer work. I love music, both listening and playing, can repair most things and enjoy building anything from coffee tables to cable lifts. Sometimes I think I'm too creative for my own good, but I've been that way my entire life, while as far as I can tell my seizures didn't begin until I was twelve or thirteen.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3oUqKUx2o0 this is a tv show called 'adam ruins everything'. a funny way to tell you about misconceptions. in 'adam ruins emily ruins adam', they talk about iq testing. the first iq test, 1904, didn't measure intelligence. it was a way to get the french kindergartners to pass to the 1st grade. that all change because of H.H. Goddard. the iq testing shy rocketed after that. the only thing the iq test tell you is how good you are at iq testing. it is designed for the rich and powerful. the intelligence iq test dose not show your intelligence. they show you you are good at taking test. they also give you the timed tests. the one where you have to finish in a certain amount of time. all that you miss because time ran out counted as a mistake and lowered your score. i am a slow reader so that is one of my reasons my iq is below average. that is why i am agents the act and sat and any timed iq test. they need to take a iq test that is not timed because every reading level is difference. and for me i am a slow reader and sometimes i need to reread a sentence a few times to answer the question.

With this I have said I'm not even considering IQ and don't need to. I'm only considering creative links with seizures. I have seen in some severely autistic sufferers they are amazing when singing or drawing wood work etc. most I've heard or seen have very low IQs. To me iq would just hinder these abilities..
