My staffy does the same usually she is the friendliest social dog but if I'm about to or have had a seizure she lays next to or on top of me growling or slightly barking guarding me until she's removed by her lead and put in another room .its like shes protecting me from the before during and after seizure x

My partners dog was around 12 when we first started dating. Until I'd come along his staffy had never experienced someone having a seizure.
Every time I'd have a seizure the dog would become protective and with the exception of my partner (his owner) not let anyone near me.
My partner would have to lock him up to let the paramedics in every time.
But my two little dogs don't seem to notice at all.

I think that is pretty amazing that your cats do that. My dogs sense when something is wrong with me too they stare @ me and sometimes will lick me.
I think both animals sense they same way thats way they make great pets.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I also have a cat. Phantom. He has that 6th sense too. When my husband's home and in another room Phantom goes to get Richard. When it's just me and Phantom and I'm laying down, he lays with me because he "knows" I don't feel well until Richard gets home.

one of my dog will get right beside me, and sometimes lays down, when i am having a 'space-out' arras or seizures. when i was a kid and had a grand mal, one of my old dogs used to lay down and whimper and/or bark.
