Has Anyone Noticed A Difference In Control Of Seizures As A Result Of Weight Loss Or Improved Fitness?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have recently gone through my seizure diary and noticed that I appear to have better control during times when I am carrying less weight and also a little fitter, does anyone recognise such a trend ion their history?

For me that was kinda tricky. I first started years ago as a kid with trileptol and gained weight, so it led to depression as a teen, I lost lots of weight very fast from my antidepressants. The cycle began up down up down weight. That made the seizures sway back and forth. On the contrary, I was using the "hip hop abs" program by choice getting heathy lifted my spirits helping me with the emotional parts of epilepsy.
My responses are a little scattered, sorry I get tongue twisted

Sure Did...Balance is the Key!!! When I was doing regular, structured exercise via GYM, Yoga, meditation, cycling and owned a pet for the first time in my 20s, walking him I found my stress went down, endorphins up and I had less seizure...It was all about balance with exercise, work etc. When my great inclusive boss left work, I was discriminated again, not given shifts, depressed and lost my drive to remain fit and strong my stress went up thus seizures returned. I started doing volunteer work which helped but when I commenced a course too, I had to be careful not to overdo the casual work, study, volunteering etc.!!! All In All minimise stress via EXERCISE,STRUCTURED SOCIAL & DOWN TIME, Put your health and Epilepsy Management before your work thus have work life balance...Speak to your Boss about Work OH&S, Equal Rights, Disability Discrimination Acts etc. I had a past Employment Agency who assisted in ensuring my Work Rights were met.... All The Best!!!

Thanks Rach,
My problem with work is that I am self employed so do not get the benefits of an employed person. That happened because I lost a job due to a long time off sick a number of years back. It is difficult running a business, adherering to employment legislation and managing my Epilepsy. That is why I spent some time looking at my seizure history.
I will get fit again and have given myself a goal of running the 2018 London Marathon. I just hope this will benefit me in the way you mentioned in your replyπŸ‘
