I went into my neurologist this last week and he told me he was going to review my past test results from video EEGs but have no idea what this diagnosis means medically or for me daily. Anyone have similar diagnosis or know what this is?
i have partial intractable pharmacoresistant epilepsy. partial just means your left is affected and not the right or vise versa. intractable epilepsy means uncontrolled with treatment. and pharmacoresistant is a lifelong problem.
so i have a left side have seizures and it is un treatable and live long.
i had surgery in 2001 and it is from grand mals or almost grand mals many times a day to 1-2 auras, or almost seizures, every couple of days. this is a last resort! i had everything done, besides marijuana, (all marijuana was illegal in all states in the 90's).
So basically partial epilepsy means it doesn't normally effect your entire brain it's limited to a certain area. Intractable most likely means you are not a candidate for surgery due to where your problem stems from. Pharmocoresistent I assume means different drugs will likely not help you any better than the current ones you're on this was also my exact diagnosis. I regardless continue to try new meds & had a vns installed 6 months ago getting slightly better
