Has Anyone Been Warned Of The Dilantin And Calcium Interaction?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've heard that it's best to take Dilantin 2 hrs from having food with much calcium. Some say calcium makes the Dilantin more difficult to absorb.
Does anyone else follow this?
Does anyone NOT follow this and found no problems?

Hi Linda, Sorry to hear that you're going through so much stress. When a lot has to be done I try to treasure the small breaks in between to take deep breaths, watch short videos, or listen to a song. I find listening to recordings of waves particularly calming. Please try not to get too angry or exasperated for your well being. I know it's difficult but it's important! Life can test us in so many ways but we make it through everything somehow anyway.

Vwangny, Most of the time my seizure control is pretty good. Wish me luck with my latest war with Social Security; they are trying to claim that I wasn't eligible to receive twenty five-25-months of benefits; but to make matters worse they are withholding my husband and I's Joint Income Tax Return, now they want their money back. If you hear about someone being arrested at the Suitland, MD District Social Security Office its probably me. On Friday-04/28-I'll go to Social Security and try to give them the facts that I have and the ones that I got from their superiors at the Headquarters Office in Philadelphia.
Those stressful situations are usually triggers for my seizures. Today when I got the Dispute Package I couldn't even write without my hands trembling. Now I'm on my computer trying to recover. My husband was supportive but disgusted with this bunch; I had my new Social Security card with my married name on July 5, 2016-over nine-9-months ago; yet at the District Social Security Office in Philadelphia my account was registered under my maiden name and address. Terrible record keepers at SSA.
The lack of sleep will be a risk for the next few days:
Friday-Early rise to go to Social Security and I expect several follow-up visits.
Saturday-A rescheduled doctor's appointment in Alexandria, VA-nearly 45 minutes from home. The first time the computer was down so my doctor couldn't read my test results.
Hope all is well with you. Take care.

Linda, Thanks for sharing in so much detail! I didn't know iron could help with reduced white count; that's something I've struggled with for a while. I guess I'll be considering taking an iron supplement now. Is your seizure control back on track now? It is amazing how triggering stress or lack of sleep can be.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Do you eat Dilantin right before/after meals? I've been warned not to do that but also know someone who had no problems taking his dose right after meals.
