They are called nocturnal if you want to look them up. They were the most difficult for me to control.
Persons diagnosed as nocturnal can drive-during the day. Often meds and dosage geared towards
sleep time can be found.

Actually Narcolepsy and Epilepsy aren't the same. Here is an article from The Epilepsy Foundation Foundation.

Actually they are not related. Narcolepsy can sometimes be misdignosed as epilepsy due to when a person falls out the cataplexy is mistaken for a seizure. Narcolepsy is not diagnosed with an eeg but most sleep dr's will use a multi latency sleep study. There is some type of blood testing for hla but I have not had that done. I do not know when that would be required. I was diagnosed with epilepsy, j.me. at 14 and by then 26 w/ narcolepsy w/o cateplexy. I had already had 2 sleep studies done starting the first starting at age 19 but not the m.l.t.s. I was having issues with my sleep again and was seeing a new sleep doctor, many are known as pulmonologist. I went to my neurologist I asked if I was misdiagnosed or what? He said no that all of my eeg's starting from 14 until current showed the spiked brain waves which aligns with someone who has epilepsy. I had also asked my sleep dr. the same question when I got diagnosed w/ narcolepsy w/o cataplexy and he stated also the same info. Narcolepsy or really any sleep disorder is hard to disgnose just like any other complicated disorder like epilepsy. I would recommend asking your neurologist and also visting the narcolepsy network which is website similar to this one in that it is designed as way for others to communicate and learn about narcolepsy. Just start searching the web there is tons of great info and not so great also. I am just sharing my tale because of learned from others that walked before me. Also whatever you're going through make sure you speak up that is one thing I have learned. Good Luck!

This can also be found on a lot of different sites on Google. šŸ˜€

I have Nocturnal Epilepsy. I have only ever had them in my sleep. Which is lucky as I can drive and work without fear of having a fit. But they come without warning. Apparently I grind my teeth then go into a grand mal. It takes 2 days to get over it. During which time I am suffering from headaches and a sickening aura. However, if my partner is with me and she hears me going into a fit, if she catches me early enough she can 'talk me out of it'. I don't know why, nor did the neurologist I was seeing at the time. Maybe try that and see if it works for you.

I have a sleep neurologist who my epileptologist matches up the CPAP I'm suddenly wide awake at night because of a seizure my wife might notice or if I fall asleep during the afternoon my kids will ask me about. BTW my old neurologist said the sleep time of 8 hours recommendation for most for me should be increased to 9 because of epilepsy and not just after seizure activity
