Difficulty Thinking Of Words
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do any of you have difficulty thinking of certain words sometimes. It's as if they're 'on the tip of your tongue'. Then a couple of minutes later you think of it/them

I do all the time. I also say the wrong word sometimes. It is frustrating but those people who know me are great and just wait for me to find the word (which sometimes makes me feel more pressure) and as for using the wrong word.....well that can be quite amusing and has caused quite a bit of laughter over the years.

Yes i do. I have been working with the same people for 6 years but i still forget their names. I can watch a movie today but a month later i will watch it again then i cant remember anything that happened in it or maybe 6 months later i cant even remember watching the movie. It feels like i have Alzheimer's disease.

I didn't realise until recently that this is part of my epilepsy. It gets very frustrating for me at home but at work I can get to the point where I'm just over people and when they laugh at me

Yes, sometimes I have to ask what we were talking about. That's alright with friends who know I'm epileptic but when it's not it can be difficult. My worst times are when I have had a few fits in a short time. That's when I really can't talk, what I try and say and what comes out are very different. But I know without the medication it can be really, really bad.
