i was born with epilepsy and my first grand mal was 6th or 7th. i went thru hundreds of thousands of meds. my advice is read up on the side effects of any seizure meds and read some alternative vitamins. when you are talking with your dr, don't be shy and ask any and all questions.

you never really can tell what medicine it will be but when i started at 9 with absent seizures it was tegratol. drowsiness is what you'll mostly fight. when she over heats it'll be a higher chance of seizing.

I was diagnosed when I was 9 years old. I cannot remember what meds I was started on but u do remember the side effects always making me really tired and sometimes sick to my stomach. I also had reactions to a lot of meds where they would make my absent seizures worse. I have not taken meds in 6 years and haven't had absent seizures since than, however I still get myoclonic seizures.
